I found a tutorial on how to make real photographs look like they're photos of miniature scenes. it's called Tiltshift photography. Much like the photographs on Adult Swim if you've seen those before. Here's a few attempts I made (using photographs either my friend or I took ourselves, not taken from the internet):

*sigh* I sort of had a rough patch in life ealier and left a lot of things alone. Including my blogspot.
But trying to start where I left off here is the result of the contest entry I was working on:I got third place, in which my prize was some copic markers... they never sent them to me. I probably got third because I didn't have time to make the complicated background I wanted.

And on another note I am working on 2 commissions, 1 birthday gift, 1 comic, 1 video game and my first 3D art. All of this I thought was too much so I dropped everything to finish the commissions, and then I'll work on the birthday gift and the comic. (I'd show you a screen shot of the 3D project and game, but I don't have them on this computer. I'm on spring break with my mom helping her clean up the house for selling, as she is moving)
I'll put up sketches of the first pages of the comic once I get the sketches done.

Any way, my friend alerted me to a contest which I'm entering over here. I think I have a good chance of winning seeing as the contest is four times a year and I think only one person has entered each time lol. The prize is a wacom intuos3 tablet 6x8, which beats the crap out of the tablet I have now. haha

It's a cool contest, and I encourage you to enter it. It'd suck if you beat me, but at least there's another contest later this year.

I have a good bit of the picture done, but I'm only going to show the sketch until I'm done with it.
This is one of the only pictures where I've used symmetry to the point of copying one side and flipping it. I think it looks really nice. But let me say this, I only copy and pasted the sketch, I'm painting each side.

I'm pretty proud of how this picture is turning out, I might even print it as a poster or something and hang it in my new apartment right next to the Wall-E poster I think my other friend is giving me.

Raccoon Character

First sketch: only the description of "it's a raccoon guy."
Second sketch: more detail given on the character's personality.

Both created using the Open Canvas 4 trial version, and even though it's not supported on vista, it still works. Though there are lots of glitches but I'm getting to know how to get around them.

I took up a small job as a colorist for a webcomic. Here are two sample pages:

The first one is an example of what the comic will normally look like (drawn by Brandon Zuckerman), the second one is drawn by a different artist (Andrew Snook). The second one also had a considerably greater amount of effort put into it. I won't be putting that much work into the comic, because it takes too much time and I lost interest a few times.

Then they continue to add glitter, ect.All the pictures have a Dia De Los Muertos theme (sort of). These are the only designs that I could get done today in my spare time:

Black Raspberry Punch

So I got yet another job here in Texas, and that was to help my step-mom mess with photos in photoshop for her work at a photography place. It looks like it'd be a pretty boring job, but I found some really funny pictures that I'm goning have to get and photomanipulate. I got paid something like a little under $6 an hour, not too bad. One thing I had to make was a poster for a hunting club:

I don't think it's particularly good, but her boss really liked it and he might be sending me more photos after I return to WV and have me work for him from my home! Yay money!

After that we went to this party at a local art gallery here in Bryan Texas, that only happens every first Friday of every month. I happen to be down long enough to catch a meeting. It was probably the first time I got to meet and chat with artists, that didn't include a computer screen. Well, I did get to go to a very small local gallery in Austin when we went down there a week ago! The gallery here in Bryan sometimes has auctions but I wasn't lucky enough for that.

There was a bunch of pictures, I should have written down more names. Most of the artists that made the pictures were there too. They had some nice food, and the only black raspberry drink I've ever had. They had a band playing too, with a guy who couldn't play the clarinet very well.

There were paintings, photographs, sculptures, jewelry, and a few dogs. It was really enjoyable. Here's some paintings done by Devon Hanna:

And then I meet this awesome artist who does stencils! Awesome ones I might add! His name is Jerome Riddle!!! His pictures caught my eye:

So I was playing the Wii I was borrowing from my step-sister while she, her husband and their kid lay back in the Bahamas. I was playing golf and some how I got excited enough to thrust my hands into the air fast enough to smash my knuckles on the ceiling fan:

It wasn't that bad a cut or anything, but it hurt like hell. I grabbed some of my niece's Dora the Explorer band aids to help stop the bleeding. HA It's my first and probably my last Wii wound, because we're returning it tomorrow.

Also while taking care of their dog, it got loose from it's collar and fucking ran in front of cars twice. Luckily there was plenty of time for them to slow down, but the speed limit on that road's like 55. And the dog just kept running, and running. The only reason I caught it was because it stopped at a neighbor's house to chat with some rottweilers behind a fence who wanted to tear it's head off!

So ,I got back from Austin today. We stayed the night and visited some museums, awesome restaurants and shops, etc. I got some drawings, but there's no scanner here.

I got a bunch of "How to draw ... " books for Xmas and I used one to learn a little more about ACTION CARTOONING. whatever. I decided to use the book and do rough sketches of characters of a comic I was thinking of making. Except I got really lazy on the left and right person's clothes... My programming homework took up way more time than I had expected.
Here's what I'll probably look like in a few weeks:

I normally just let my hair grow until I can't see and then I get it cut down to about a half an inch.
The guy eating a book is from an idea from the show My Gym Partner's a Monkey. The students eat books to gain the knowledge written in them, an interesting idea.
And there's Chowder from the TV show Chowder, he's also a pretty cool character. He seems to never get full despite how much he eats, he eats anything, and he's able to cough up anything he's eaten.

I was trying to work on thinning my lines. I sketched it in Photoshop and started inking it, but I realized that my manga studio demo hadn't expired yet, so I gave that a try. After I imported the lines back into Photoshop and comparing the lines I started making, I noticed that manga studio is really good at making lines!

It was cast from it's owner's lair and cursed to fly forever else it be sucked into one of the holes the demon used to agonizingly dissolve souls for its own pleasure. The long legs of this demon collect the souls of those that get near it and thrown into the hole that follows underneath the bird, in an attempt to quench the ever lasting thirst of the 'soul hole'. The vestigial eye on it's tail was once used to see when it was surrounded by darkness, but now it wanders sightless, blinded by the light of the upper world.
